FOR SUITABLE FROZEN APPLICATIONS
PCM −21 as an alternative to dry ice
PCM −21 can replace dry ice in suitable frozen shipping applications. The packs can be stored and frozen before dispatch. Any switch is designed around the required product temperature, shipping duration and complete packaging system.
Product temperature
At around −78 °C, dry ice is too cold for some products that must stay above a specified minimum temperature. PCM −21 °C coolant packs can be used in these applications.
Dry ice as dangerous goods
Dry ice is subject to specific transport regulations. For air transport, it is classified as Class 9 dangerous goods under the IATA DGR; road transport is subject to specific ADR provisions. Depending on the shipping method, this can add work or restrictions, making PCM coolant packs a more suitable alternative.
Not a universal substitute for dry ice
PCM −21 is not a direct replacement for much lower product temperatures. Options for these applications include PCM with lower melting points or cost-effective dry ice.

Gelpack Pro −21
PCM gel filling in a robust PA/PE laminate film pouch. Freeze the pouch in the shape needed for packing. Limited reuse is possible only if the pack remains suitable for use and undamaged.
