CRT – Controlled Room Temperature
CRT stands for controlled room temperature. The term refers to controlled conditions around room temperature. The applicable limits and permitted excursions depend on the product requirements and the relevant regulatory or technical framework; CRT is not a universally defined numerical range.
Why is +15 to +25 °C often mentioned?
In transport, systems may be specified for a range such as +15 to +25 °C. However, this specific requirement must not be inferred from the abbreviation CRT alone. Storage conditions, transport limits and excursions that may be assessed are not automatically identical either.
Does CRT mean shipping without temperature control?
No. Hot or cold ambient conditions can cause goods to leave their permitted range. The transport concept must therefore account for exposure to both heat and cold. Suitable insulation and conditioned coolant packs may form part of the solution. Evidence covering the product, packaging and intended transport process establishes which measures are sufficient.
