Lane Risk Assessment
A lane risk assessment is a structured risk assessment of a specific transport route. In temperature-controlled shipping, product requirements, typical processes and possible disruptions are compared with the intended temperature protection. The result is justified measures and limits for use of the selected transport solution.
What is assessed along the lane?
- Transport stages, service providers, handovers and planned duration, as well as possible additional time.
- Seasonal temperatures, local exposure and available controlled intermediate storage. The ambient profile supplies the thermal input.
- The likelihood and consequences of delays, misrouting or unavailable recipients.
Which measures can follow?
Possible measures include a longer demonstrated protection duration, a different process, coordinated handover times or additional monitoring. Not every lane requires the same packaging technology. Assumptions, available data and decisions are documented; the assessment is reviewed when relevant changes occur in the process or products. A country or weather overview alone does not replace this lane-specific assessment.
