Neopor / Graphite EPS
Neopor is a BASF brand of graphite-containing expandable polystyrene. EPS insulation components made from it contain graphite particles that reduce radiative heat transfer. Neopor therefore belongs to the EPS material family; not every grey or graphite-containing EPS may be equated with this brand name.
What does the addition of graphite change?
- It can reduce thermal conductivity compared with comparable white EPS. The specific value depends on factors including product type, density and measurement conditions.
- Lower thermal conductivity can be used to design more compact insulation. This is a design consideration, not a fixed percentage saving.
- Component geometry, joints and lid fit continue to influence the performance of the complete packaging.
Does the material name establish a particular shipping duration?
No. A material property is not evidence of temperature maintenance in a loaded shipper. The cooling medium, packout and ambient profile are considered together for that purpose. Whether a particular material is offered and suitable for an insulated shipper must be established from the specific product information.
