Ambient Temperature Profile
An ambient temperature profile describes the surrounding temperature over time to which a shipment is exposed, or is to be exposed during testing. It includes temperatures and the duration of each stage. The profile can represent measured transport conditions or serve as a defined test challenge.
Which transport stages matter?
- Collection, main transport, handling, intermediate storage and delivery can involve different temperatures and waiting times.
- The surroundings immediately around a shipment may differ from local weather data, for example inside a vehicle or warehouse.
- A profile with changing stages challenges a system differently from a constant temperature. Total duration and sequence therefore belong in the description.
Does a summer profile cover every heat risk?
Not automatically. Seasonal reference profiles must be compared with the intended lanes. Direct sunlight or particular local effects may require additional consideration. The lane risk assessment determines which stresses are relevant to packaging selection and testing.
