Climate Chamber Test
A climate chamber test examines packaging under controlled external conditions. For thermal testing, the chamber follows a defined temperature–time profile while sensors record temperatures within the specified packout. This allows protective performance to be assessed under reproducible stresses.
Which information belongs in the test?
- Packaging configuration, payload and initial state of all relevant components.
- The ambient temperature profile, total duration and arrangement of test specimens in the chamber.
- Measurement locations, recording intervals and acceptance criteria defined in advance. For a +2 to +8 °C test, for example, it must be clear which measurement points should maintain this range and for how long.
Does passing a test provide complete evidence?
The result relates to the tested conditions. Other payloads, transport lanes or mechanical effects may require additional investigation. The test report also documents deviations and limitations. Only within a justified qualification is it established which scope of use the data adequately support.
