Gel Pack
A gel pack is a cooling element with a gel-like filling in a sealed film pouch. The filling absorbs heat and supports temperature control in shipping packaging. THERMOCON offers water-based versions and PCM −21 variants; the film casing and intended use differ according to the version.
How is a gel pack prepared?
- The temperature and duration of preconditioning depend on the filling and the associated packing instructions.
- Freeze gel packs that require freezing flat and smooth. An uneven shape can make loading the insulated shipper more difficult.
- Check the film and seams for damage before packing. The number and position of the elements must match the intended configuration.
Is every gel pack reusable?
No. A stronger film alone does not constitute approval for unlimited reuse. Reuse and food contact depend on the specific version and its conditions of use. For freeze-sensitive goods, contact with very cold elements must also be assessed. The filling is not intended for consumption.
