Pre-qualification in accordance with AFNOR NF S 99-700
THERMOCON Classic systems are tested and pre-qualified in environmental test chambers for a range of temperature conditions. Testing is carried out using defined summer and winter ambient temperature profiles in accordance with NF S 99-700.
Multiple temperature sensors are positioned diagonally throughout the payload space to record temperature performance at different measurement points and identify any potential hot or cold spots.
For these tests, the payload space is deliberately left empty or only minimally loaded. This means there is little or no additional thermal mass from the shipped product to buffer temperature fluctuations.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the Classic Line cost-effective?
The Classic Line combines lightweight EPS insulated shippers, twelve sizes, standardised coolant packs and summer and winter packouts. It is designed for single-use shipments where the packaging is not returned.
What does “packout” mean?
A packout is the defined arrangement of the insulated shipper, coolant packs or dry ice, the products being shipped and any separator layers. The stated hold time applies only to this exact arrangement.
Does the Classic Line use water-based coolant packs?
Water-based coolant packs are used for many packouts in the +2 to +8 °C and +15 to +25 °C ranges. PCM is used when the temperature requirements or hold time call for it.
Can the coolant pack be reused?
Depending on the packout, the standard format is available as a reusable rigid coolant pack or a single-use Foam Brick. The Classic packaging itself is designed for single-use shipments.
What does “one coolant pack format for 30 systems” mean?
The same format can be used in 30 THERMOCON systems across different product lines. The number of coolant packs, how they are prepared and their positions in the packout are specified for each system.
Can the same Classic shipper be used for different temperature ranges?
For many sizes, several pre-qualified packouts are available. The applicable packout is specified in the relevant packing instructions.
