Promega Corporation: A leading player in the life science industry

Promega Corporation, headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, USA, is a leading manufacturer of reagents and integrated systems for the life science sector. They provide invaluable support to researchers in academic institutions, government research facilities, forensics, pharmacies, the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology, clinical and molecular diagnostics, and numerous other fields. In these industries in particular, the need for safe thermal transport is especially critical. Promega GmbH has been represented as a subsidiary in Germany since 1997 and is responsible for sales in Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe.

Focus on sustainability: the partnership with THERMOCON

In line with the UN Global Compact initiative, Promega GmbH also attaches great importance to sustainable resource management and is actively committed to environmentally friendly solutions. In cooperation with THERMOCON, a brand of the Schaumaplast Group, innovative approaches for thermal transport are being developed. THERMOCON focuses on the development, production and qualification of passive thermal packaging solutions in order to minimize the environmental impact of cold chain logistics.

🤝 We have been working with Promega for over 15 years to ensure safety and the highest quality for our customers. At the same time, we promote environmentally conscious supply chain management with this sustainable approach to thermal boxes made from recycled material. ♻️ 📦

Recycling for a sustainable supply chain

Ralph Gerngross, Project Buyer at Promega GmbH, emphasizes the importance of the partnership: “By using thermal boxes made from recycled EPS, we ensure maximum safety and quality for our customers. At the same time, we are getting closer to our goal of a sustainable supply chain.” ♻️

What is rEPS?

Recycled expanded polystyrene (rEPS) is an environmentally friendly alternative for thermal packaging solutions. rEPS is made from recycled polystyrene derived from used packaging and other sources. This sustainable approach offers a variety of benefits:

  • Environmentally friendly: the use of recycled material reduces the need for new raw materials and cuts the waste stream.
  • Energy efficient: The production of rEPS from recycled polystyrene requires less energy compared to the production of new material, resulting in an overall lower environmental impact.
  • Recyclability: rEPS remains 100% recyclable, which means it can be returned to the production cycle at the end of its life cycle.
  • High performance: rEPS offers excellent insulating properties that are ideal for the safe transportation of temperature-sensitive products such as pharmaceuticals, biological samples and foodstuffs.
  • Circular economy: By promoting a circular economy, rEPS helps to increase the value of recycled materials and minimize the use of natural resources.

We firmly believe that a closed-loop circular economy is the most effective way to a sustainable future. 🚀
