On 16 April 2026, Supply Chain Day was held for the 19th time. During this nationwide event, companies, organisations and institutes across Germany open their doors to give the public a first-hand look at logistics processes. Each year, the event showcases the industry’s diversity and capabilities.
THERMOCON also took part in Supply Chain Day 2026 to see logistics in action and learn more about specialist pharmaceutical processes. Two teams attended selected events, gaining practical insights on site.
Two events, two perspectives on logistics in practice
One THERMOCON team attended “Inside Pharma Hub FRA: handling temperature-sensitive shipments”. The event focused on the requirements for handling temperature-sensitive air freight. The Lufthansa Cargo network covers around 350 destinations in more than 100 countries. Of these, 230 stations accept shipments using passive temperature control, while 126 stations can be booked for actively temperature-controlled shipments.
Another team attended “A look inside pharmaceutical logistics at Movianto” in Neunkirchen (Saar). The programme included an introductory presentation, a tour of the 40,000 m² warehouse and a technical discussion afterwards.

In pharmaceutical logistics, quality, process reliability and dependable management of temperature-controlled supply chains are particularly important. Site visits help us understand how these elements work together and identify ideas we can apply in practice. What we learned
Taking part in Supply Chain Day 2026 gave THERMOCON an opportunity to learn more about pharmaceutical logistics and observe processes on site. The events at Lufthansa Cargo and Movianto demonstrated both the demands of temperature-controlled logistics and its importance in keeping supply chains safe.
