Superior insulation performance
VIPs are superior to polystyrene boxes in terms of thermal performance – especially in combination with phase change material. VIPs have a thermal conductivity that is around 5 to 10 times lower than traditional insulation materials such as expanded polystyrene (EPS) or polyurethane foam (PU). This means that they are more effective at keeping the contents of the thermal box at a constant temperature, even under extreme conditions. This is particularly important for high-value goods such as clinical trials, vaccines and other active ingredients, but also for shipping routes with high external temperature fluctuations.

Thermal boxes made of VIPs are more expensive, but smaller and lighter than conventional insulated boxes while offering the same or better thermal performance.
