What makes thermal packaging the right choice? This was the focus of the visit to our Reilingen site by INATECH Packaging, our distributor in Romania. We value these meetings in person. They give us the opportunity to introduce our THERMOCON solutions and products, and to discuss technical questions directly. Working together helps us understand requirements, share practical experience and develop approaches that will keep the cold chain safe and efficient as needs evolve.
Sharing technical expertise on the cold chain
After introducing THERMOCON, INATECH and the people involved, we discussed key cold chain topics. These included current market requirements, the practical challenges of day-to-day use and the performance expected of modern thermal packaging.
A closer look at production, processes and products
The visit also included a tour of the Schaumaplast Group’s EPS production facilities and the THERMOCON department. INATECH Packaging gained an insight into our processes, product lines and approach to developing solutions. Seeing these activities first-hand helps our partners understand how we work and builds a shared understanding of quality, development and practical use.
Discussions with THERMOCON’s Head of Thermal Packaging Development and our specialist Martin Raack explored the factors that determine the right choice of thermal packaging. When selecting an insulated shipper, these include the size and weight of the product and the specific shipping conditions: transit time, temperature requirements, mode of transport, route and destination.
Choosing the right thermal packaging
We also discussed the differences between basic standard packaging and high-performance thermal packaging, the importance of thorough testing and common pitfalls when choosing a system. Packaging will only perform well in practice if all the relevant factors are taken into account.
