Thermal engineering for your shipping requirements
From computer-aided thermal design to prototypes, environmental chamber testing and production: THERMOCON develops and qualifies passive packaging for temperature-sensitive products.
From concept to production
1. Concept and design
Computer-aided thermal calculations and system design define an appropriate packaging configuration.
2. Prototyping
Milled samples and 3D printing turn the design into a physical prototype.
3. Qualification
Environmental chamber testing evaluates and qualifies the thermal performance of the complete packaging system.
4. Production
EPS or EPP insulated shippers and coolant packs are manufactured for the defined configuration.
Understand risk along your shipping lane
We create detailed computer models of existing passive shippers and simulate their thermal behavior across a range of scenarios. The analysis helps define the operating limits of the packaging and identify practical measures to reduce the risk of temperature excursions.
Assessing the shipping lane connects packaging performance with the conditions a shipment may encounter. The results support decisions about the packout and shipping process.
Test the complete packaging system
New and existing thermal packaging systems are tested under controlled conditions in environmental chambers. Summer and winter profiles expose the shipper to changing ambient temperatures so the performance of the passive cooling system can be evaluated.
Test profiles may be based on actual temperature data or recognized industry methods such as ISTA or AFNOR. Qualification applies to the tested configuration and conditions.
Start with your shipping requirements
For a new design or an assessment of existing packaging, share the product temperature range, payload, shipping duration, route and available preconditioning process. We can discuss the thermal design and testing needed for your application.
